internet explorer usage

previous versions of quicken used IE. Now that this has been deprecated/disabled, do all versions of the subscription quicken use edge or the default browser? One of my clients is being pressured to go to quicken online with comments that her desktop version wouldn't work anymore because IE is defunct. I assume the older versions would still be IE dependent, but if she moved to the subscription, is that enough or ONLY the web version will work?

There is no "Quicken Online" unless you're talking about the somewhat limited "Quicken on the Web" browser app (which requires a regular Quicken for Windows or Quicken for Mac PC-based program). And Quicken still is a single user - only program. No sharing of data file or shared multi-user access.
Are you sure you're talking about Quicken and not Quickbooks?

Whereas it is true that IE is no longer supported, it isn't true that "embedded IE" that Quicken used (and maybe in some spots still uses) isn't still supported.  This "embedded IE" is the use of libraries that do web like functions by calling low level IE libraries/functions.

Running any older version of a program runs the risk that eventually it will not be supported.  And Quicken can show such problems.  For instance, the two things that tend to stop working on newer versions of Quicken are the Help and Printing.  But for the most part Quicken has weathered the compatibility pretty well.  My recommendation for anyone that is doing only manual entry is to use Quicken 2013.  Not only can you get it for free from Quicken Inc's website it is the last version before there is any kind of requirement to connect to a Quicken server.  This gives you the best chance at it being OK for a long time into the future.  It is already known to work on Windows versions up to Windows 11.  If the person is on Quicken 2014 or above, they must have the install and the latest Mondo patch to ensure that the program is using the Quicken Id instead of the Intuit Id it was originally started with.

Sorry, my client has quickbooks, i have quicken thus the mis-speak

Thanks for clarifying that the libraries for ie are still functional. I dont want to force her to migrate to “on the web” version on quickbooks or me to “on the web “ for quicken .

    Helpful explanation

Quicken doesn't require Internet Explorer 6. Where did you buy Quicken from?
