Is there a SIMPLE product available like my very first Quicken, like in 1989, 1990?

I had a check register and I could categorize income and expenses, run a total of groceries for the year for instance. That's all I want. I don't want banking or investing or any connection to anything on line. I'm paying for this now and I don't really want 95% of the features and can barely operate it. Who can help? Thanks.

You could consider Quicken's online-only product, Simplifi — but you'd still be paying for feature you say you don't want. Or you could stir k with Quicken, and ignore the features you don't want or need. Or you could explore other software which might be less expensive and meet your needs. Google "checkbook software" and see what you find. Sorry, but the Quicken forum rules prevent us from discussing, or even mentioning, other software products.

I don't want the updates because I certainly don't want any new features. I want to get rid of features. No, I'm not new to it; many years. It just keeps getting more complicated and I don't want it. Back to my question! Is there a SIMPLE, similar product? A couple of bank accounts, ability to split and categorize all entries, expenses and income, push a button every few months for totals. No graphs, no online access, no bill pay.....really, a check register. Maybe I should go back to that.
I'll look at the videos. Maybe they will cheer me up.

I already answered your question: Google "checkbook software" and see what you find, but the Quicken forum rules prevent us from discussing, or even mentioning, other software products.

You can use Quicken in this way, if you want. I enter my transactions manually and don't download them; I don't use Quicken's bill pay. I track one bank account, a few credit card accounts, and my investment/retirement accounts. I'm happy using Quicken this way; I ignore the features I don't need/want.

I hesitate to update when I get the messages (every time I open it) because I don't want to get further confused! Thanks.

Are you already using the Quicken Mac Subscription version?
If so, allowing software updates to be installed should not cause any problems to the way you use Quicken ... I hope ... "Murphy, stay out!!!"
