Bank Bill Pay vs Quicken Bill Manager

If I have Bank Bill Pay, do I really need Quicken Bill Manager? I use Wells Fargo for my banking.

What bank .. as some are migrating away from supporting Quicken Direct Connect, which is required for Bank Pay.  I have used Chase for years, but they are migrating …

I use Wells Fargo for my banking and they have Bank Bill Pay. I doesn't look like they have any plans to move off of it like Chase is.

Lucky you … if it works, I would just continue to use it..  a nice integration with Quicken to just “Send” the transaction and it pops up in the bank bill payment feature

@John J Note that Chase didn't have any "plans" until a month ago (when they announced them), so you never know, but you are correct as of now you don't have to deal with Quicken Bill Manager and I personally would never go to such an error prone system.

Here is my explanation on the different terms/systems:

BTW here is the web site of the organization that is pushing the new FDX standard (what Quicken Windows is calling Express Web Connect +).  Notice the first financial institution's name on this page of the members.

I second that comment.  I'd personally keep things completely separate by using Quicken as a "view" to my finances, and any "action" such as paying bills directly and only thru my financial institution.

Thanks for all the info. Great sites too.

I really couldn't get into using QBM. It was confusing. In fact, I hated it.

Do any of you use the mobile app? I've found that to be quite useless with Wells Fargo.
  • @John J - I would just use Wells Fargo Bill Pay.  In my opinion it works very well and easy to set up.  They also have E-Bills.  Also, if you wish, you can use Wells Fargo Bill Pay from within Quicken (integrated) if you use Direct Connect with Quicken.

No.  I will speak for myself; not because the mobile app is bad, but because enabling Cloud Sync (required for mobile & web) is problematic and causes problems and corruptions with the main desktop data file.  Instead of platforms getting in sync, they get out of sync!  So my personal recommendation is to disable the Sync option in Preferences > Mobile & Web.
