Chase has crossed the point of no return for Direct Connect/non investment accounts

This is just a FYI for anyone interested.

Direct Connect is no longer possible to be selected for Chase non investment accounts.
Direct Connect hasn't been cutoff yet with Chase non investment accounts, but if you deactivate an account using Direct Connect you will not be able to reactivate it.

It might be possible to go back to a backup that has the account set to Direct Connect, but I'm not sure about this and I'm not going to test it.

Interesting enough investment accounts have not been switched to Express Web Connect + yet.  It isn't even a possibility.

It will be interesting to see if in time they are switched to Express Web Connect + like the information the Quicken moderators have put out, and if so, when.

Even though you can log into one account and see both your non investment accounts and investment accounts, these are handled by very different parts of the overall company so it isn't really surprising that they have a completely different switch over schedule, if they are going to be switched at all.

Hmm.  In a test data file, Tools -> Add Account:

Clicking the Chase icon instead (always nice to have "consistent" interfaces):

Actually now that I think about it, I think know what is going on.
They have to leave Direct Connect in the FIDIR file otherwise downloading for people that already have it setup would fail and they are not yet at the point where they want that to happen.

So, at least in the special case of this Chase conversion, they have something more that blocks one from adding an account using Direct Connect.

I was thinking the same thing…
how to have another “state” where you can have ongoing downloads, but not New Account setup for Direct.
but it’s amazing - just like with Schwab - to not have a very clear and concise “message” from Quicken as to what exactly is happening and a set of clear step by step instructions… as usual the Support website has an entry, but it is lacking the details.

Note in another thread, a person mentioned that they changed their password and couldn't connect again, which lead them to deactivating their accounts.  Which of course leads to having to convert over to Express Web Connect +.
