Password assigned to backup files

Created a year end back up in order to reduce my active file size, now the system has apparently assigned a password to that file, and I cannot access it - as I did not create any password for that file. Ideas?

Please clarify:  Are you are being requested to enter a BU file PW?  Or are you being requested to login to Quicken with your Quicken ID and PW?
Sometimes when a BU file is being restored it needs to sync with or create a new Cloud Account ID so Quicken will prompt to login with the Quicken ID and PW.
Also, if the main file that the back up was created from had a PW assigned to it at the time the BU file was created then the BU file would have that same PW assigned to it.

    Sorry, no.

I created a Year End Archive, as in the past when the amount of transactions got to a certain point the program would act wonky. So today, I open quicken same as before, but the file did not open automatically as it always has in the past. I went to the back-up I made, and it asked for a password. Never assigned it one. Fortunately, I only lost about an hour's worth of work, I am back up to date now, but I'd hate for it to happen again.

I'm glad you got the issue resolved.  Yes, thankfully it did not take you more time to get it all fixed and current, again.
