Chase EWC+ connection

Today I switched over from Direct Connect to the new EWC+ connection for my Chase accounts.
It was my understanding Bill Pay must now be done via Chase's website (unless Quicken Bill Pay is used).  It was also my understanding the Chase accounts would be populated with the relevant info entered via Chase (date, amount, payee, etc) when an update is run.

I created two bill pay transactions via Chase's website, one to be paid immediately and the other to be paid on a future date.  Subsequently, I ran an update and neither transaction was downloaded to Quicken.

Is this the way WTC+ was designed to work?  I hope not. If it is, it is a step or two backward.

What is the general consensus on the EWC+ connection method?

You are mistaken about the "sync back".  Without Direct connect there isn't anything to sync the billing information to Quicken.  You will see the bills in Quicken when they clear the bank and are downloaded.
If you want to "predict" bills you need to either enter reminders in Quicken or manually enter the transaction at the time you schedule the bill on the Chase website.

P.S. I should have mentioned.  Express Web Connect + is a one way protocol, download transactions only.

Will the Quicken bill pay work the way I thought EWC+ was going to work?

The EWC+ System is certainly not an an improvement over the Direct Connect - as far as usability goes.

What is the general consensus of EWC+ In the QUICKEN COMMUNITY?

I believe that you are talking about Quicken Bill Manager, that is all that is left for paying bills through Quicken when Express Web Connect + is used.
For an overview of how it works look at this:

The general consensus (When not talking to a Quicken Inc employee) is that Express Web Connect + is not as good as Direct Connect, especially if going from using it to pay bills to Quicken Bill Manager.

I mirror Jerry's concern. Scheduling a payment is fine but doing so without knowing your future balance is risky - so now each much be entered a second time in Quicken. I have found, as well, that even when entered in Quicken, the transaction may not "match" and be entered a second time (giving you a small heart attack when a major CC payment is entered twice and you see your balance in the red after an update!)

This is, for sure, a step or two backwards...
