How do I avoid extraneous updates?

:) Whenever I update a single account (not a Merrill Lynch account), several of my Merrill Lynch accounts update. This is a big time-waster for me. How can I fix this?

Quicken always updates all the accounts under a given user account.  There isn't any way you can turn that off short of disabling accounts for downloading.

Come to think of it there one way around this and that is to use Web Connect where you go to the financial and download a Web Connect/QFX file and import that into Quicken.  Didn't really mention it before because most people won't find that convenient.  And of course the financial institution has to support this, and not all of them do.

Let me be specific. I am at one of my USAA accounts and I ask for an update. I know that, of course, it will update all of the USAA accounts under the same name in the pin vault. However, there are several Merrill Lynch accounts updated that are not in that group or have any pin vault data in common. That's the waste of time I'm trying to avoid. :)

Hmm, oh that is different.  And you are using Update Now, not One Step Update?
It shouldn't update the Merrill Lynch accounts, so I don't know what to tell in that case.

you are finally getting what I am asking. And it is an annoying bug that perhaps Quicken will address (if enough others get this problem).

If you are using One Step Update, instead of clicking Update Now, after entering your Vault Password, click Settings.
Uncheck the Registers, you wish, not to Update. Then click Update Now.

It isn't a bug. Before clicking Update Now, you can click Apply in the settings.

that's not much of a time saver. This is not when I use one step update. This is when I use the update feature in an account.
