Future bill changes

On monthly bill reminders is the option 'edit this instance and all future instances', so I go to Jan 2023 to make changes only for next year. But Quicken then changes the rest of this year's also, which I don't want to change! The option is misleading, so I don't know how to plan only for 2023!

The reason it is stated like "This instance and all future instances" is let you know that it is different from "This instance".

Editing "This instance" allows you to change the next amount/date without affecting the future instances (but none of the other details in the reminder).
Editing "This instance and all future instances" might be better stated "All instances, including the next instance".  You are changing the reminder, and it can only have one set of values.

I take that the reminder you want to setup for 2023 is different than what you want for 2022.
To accomplish that you will have to use two reminders, one for 2022 and one for 2023.  And you need to be sure that you restrict the one for 2022 so that it ends and doesn't overlap the 2023 reminder.

I might add that if you are using a Paycheck reminder you can't do this at all because the Paycheck reminders don't have end dates.  You would have to switch to a normal reminder with split lines.
