Bring my payment information up to date
David Simmons
Why would the one step update fail for a credit union account that I have in Quicken when I check option to "Bring my payment information up to date", but succeed when this option is unchecked? I am running the current version of Quicken Deluxe for windows, connecting to this financial institution for decades, and connect via direct connect.

"Bring my payment information up to data" is for the bill payment information. So, it sounds like for some reason that is where it is having a problem but is fine in downloading the transactions.
The error message/code might give a hint at what the problem is, but most likely it is something that the financial institution is doing since Quicken is talking directly to the financial institution.

Chris, when I ran the update with "Bring my payment information up to date" selected, I received an OL-393-A error code.

Well, here is the support article for it, but it doesn't really seem to apply to this situation.

I remember when Chase was having a similar problem it gave the same kind of error. Chase resolved the error a couple of weeks later. If you don't use bill pay you can just turn it off on the Account Details -> Online Services tab. Otherwise, you should report it to your financial institution.
BTW what is the financial institution?
Chase had this error shortly before the dropped Direct Connect that was required for bill pay through Quicken to the financial institution.

P.S. Note you would be turning of the bill pay, not deactivating the account for downloading.

Chris, the Financial Institution is a local federal credit union based on the Virginia Peninsula. Ironically, when I checked if the Online bill payment was enabled, it is not.

Hmm. I'm not sure what is going on.
I suggest you contact Quicken Support and see what they say about it:

It’s always helpful to mention the exact name of the institution in case there are other issues being reported …
