Registers & Transactions (Windows)
How does "move transaction" handle transfers?
ChicagoQuick
I would like to merge a newer register for a particular account with an older one for the same account. Wondering whether the "move transaction(s)" tools is smart enough to deal with account transfers to and from the old account.
In other words suppose in old register ([Account A]) there is a transfer from a different account ([Account C]). I move this transaction to a new register ([Account B]).
Will quicken then reassign the moved transaction so that it is properly treated as a transfer from [Account C] to [Account B]?
Thanks for your help.

Yes, when moving a transaction from one account to another and the category is a transfer, the transfer category in the other account will be updated to show the account the transaction was moved to.
If you want to test this out to confirm it for yourself: Back up your data file and then select a transfer transaction(s) and move it to another account. Then view the results. If you don't like the results, you can then restore your backup file and everything will be as it was before the test.
