Memorized payees not categorizing

For the last couple of weeks, when I enter a memorized payee in the register the payee name autofills but the category is blank. I verified that the category is specified in the Memorized Payee list. I am on Release 44.28

    Might you have multiple memorized payees with the same name ... one of which includes a value in the category field and another doesn't?

    Thanks for the response No, I don't have any duplicate memorized payees...at least not anymore. In recent weeks Quicken had been creating duplicate memorized payees when I reused existing ones, but I deleted all the duplicates.

    I found the answer in a previous thread titled "How do I fix auto categorization not working?" from August 2020. The Preference setting for "Recall memorized payees" under "Data entry and QuickFill" had gotten unchecked. (IDK how, since I haven't deliberately changed any of my Preference settings in years.)
