How do I delete a reconciled entry & replace it with duplicate entry w/out affecting reconciliation?

When I delete the reconciled entry, it always throws off the reconcilation, regardless of the fact that my replacement entry is the same amount and I change it from uncleared to Reconciled. Is there a way to do this without mucking up the next reconciliation?

If you changed a transaction with the same amount and changed the Clr to R for reconcile it shouldn't affect the reconcile. Can you describe what is going wrong?Signature:

This has to do with a payment from one account to a credit card account. I ended up with two payment entries in the credit card account (I have no idea how because I always download from the bank), so I have had to delete the reconciled transaction (because it was not the correct match), but when I did so, it affected the ending balance in the next reconciliation. I thought I could just delete the wrong (reconciled) entry and then change the duplicate entry to "R", but that doesn't seem to work in Quicken, so I don't know how to solve this problem. Thanks for your help!0

I'm not sure I follow what is going on here. If you had two duplicate transactions for the same amount and one was reconciled and the other wasn't, then why didn't you just delete the unreconciled one instead of the reconciled one?
If on the other hand both of the duplicate transactions were marked reconciled, then how did they both get marked reconciled if one of them is a duplicate. It should be impossible to properly reconcile both if one doesn't really belong.Signature:
