Does anyone know what the difference is between validate and super validate?

No one knows. All anyone has ever been told is that Super Validate is "more aggressive".

I was told years ago by Tamara that super-validate handles "an edge case" that validate doesn't. That's verbatim.
She gave me the impression that most of the functionality that originated in super had moved to regular validate over time.
An experiment might be to take some old, hopefully corrupted, data file, make a Windows copy, and run both copies through each of the validates. See whether there are any visible differences in the validation logs.
