One Step Update Freezing

It appears this is a common issue. As of the last update (R44.28) anytime I try one step on any account the system says complete and just hangs, never recovers have to force shutdown. I also had several bills kick forward a year. I have tried all the solutions I could find including a complete uninstall and re-install. I tried chat but the person I chatted with had no clue. I am beyond frustrated; these issues make the program useless to me.

When you updated to R44.28 did you do that from inside Quicken or did you download and install the Mondo Patch from the Quicken website?  It is my understanding that R44.2X hotfixes were supposed to fix a number of freeze issues like you had mentioned but I have found that updating from within Quicken is not always as reliable as downloading and installing the Mondo Patch from the Quicken website.   If you want, you could download and install the R44.28 Mondo Patch from Reinstalling and patching your Quicken Subscription version after your membership has expired.  Click on "October 2022" to expand it and you will find the link for the R44.28 Mondo Patch there.

Also, a few days ago it was announced that there was a staged release of R45.7:  Windows R45.XX Release (US).

One of the things stated in there that was fixed:  "Some customers had the date changed on reminders after entering them."  Does that sound similar to your issue of "...several bills kick forward a year"?

If so, you might want to consider updating to R45.7.  You can download and install the Mondo Patch for it at
Quicken for Windows: Manual Mondo Patch Update [Support Article].  I didn't see anything else listed in the Announcement regarding the other issue you mentioned but perhaps there was more included in the R45.7 update than what was announced (that would not be unusual).

Thank you so much for your response!! The updates are done within Quicken, I just installed the Mondo Patch and it seems to have resolved part of the issue, some but not all accounts updated and then the program froze and became unresponsive. So for me it is still on the updates. The issue on reminders is exactly what you state, moved them out a year. Can't tell if the patch would have corrected as I fixed them manually.

I'm glad that it fixed some of the issue for you.

Regarding the program becoming unresponsive during OSU:  How long did you let Quicken continue trying to update the accounts?

There have been some reports that OSU is taking longer to complete.  Most of the posts I have seen is that is currently taking 2-4 minutes to complete (which is what I am generally seeing) but some have said it is taking "15-20 minutes".  I suspect that "15-20 minutes" is an exaggeration but don't know that for sure but I think it's safe to assume that it is sometimes taking much longer to complete than it usually does.

Anyway, for me the Direct Connect connections tend to complete pretty quickly (just a few seconds for each connection) but the Express Web Connect/Express Web Connect+ connections are the ones that appear to be taking longer to finish updating and during that time it can appear that Quicken has frozen and become unresponsive.

What you might want to do, if you have not already done so, is start OSU and if Quicken appears to freeze up and become unresponsive just let is continue to run for at least 15-20 if necessary to see if OSU will complete.

This issue has been a major frustration for a long time and still not resolved although I happened upon another discussion pointing to an issue with the cloud. Turned it off and update is working. Maybe Quicken will figure it out and fix, but in the meantime this has me able to update accounts. The number of threads about this issue is insane, it does appear that anyone at Quicken cares to address the well documented issue.

Having Mobile & Web Sync = ON is only needed if one is using the optional Mobile and Quicken on the Web features.   If one is not using Mobile or Web, then Sync should be OFF to reduce the possibility of Cloud Account issues that cause problems with using Quicken.  I'm glad to hear that turning Sync OFF has worked for you.
