How do you adjust size (length) of fields in register for investment transactions

for instance, only 4 characters show for amount fields -  I need to increase field size to at least 6

If it isn't the physical width of a column, as shown in the investment register, could it be that your setting of Edit / Preferences / Reports only "Decimal places for prices and shares" is set to only show 4 decimal places?
If so, change it to 6.If that's not the issue, can you show us an example of what's shown on your Quicken window? Grab a screen snapshot and save it to a PNG, JPG or GIF file. Annotate the file to remove personal information, then drag the file from Windows File Explorer into your next Comment here.

As you move your mouse cursor along the top line of the column names - Share Bal, Inv. Amt, Cash Amt, etc - you should be able to grab the vertical line dividing these columns - cursor changes to a line with arrows at both ends - and reposition those lines.
