Question: Why do you need to add a new checking account for next year? All existing account register will continue to function seamlessly, once the new year starts.
If you have a budget set up in Quicken, it will extend into the new year the first time you start Quicken in the new year or when you click the budget view to show next month (or next year).

Extending @ukr's reply, And all reports can be customized to reflect any chosen period for which there is data ,,, so it's really unclear why you need an new account for 2023 or why you've been unable to add one so far.
