Does anyone know what "Automatically enter split data" does?

I have never understood, what this preference does.

    What I see:
Unchecked, OK closes the split box leaves the focus on the transaction for further info and edits.
Checked, Enter closes the split box and enters the transaction, focus to the next transaction.

That's an obscure one and not the most useful thing I've ever seen.
With the preference OFF, you get OK and Cancel buttons in the split dialog.
With the preference ON, you get Enter and Cancel buttons. The idea is to save you a click by entering the transaction.
