Linking Checking Accounts

I've managed to end up with two account entries for the same checking account. I cannot seem to find the instructions for combining them - or merging them - or linking them - whatever the correct term is! Can someone point me in the correct direction?

You want to merge all the transactions into one account. Do you get your data for the checking account by downloading transactions directly in Quicken (e.g. "Quicken Connect"), or do you download a QFX file from your bank and import it into Quicken (e.g. "Web Connect")?

In either case, you want to determine which one of you two accounts Quicken is pulling data into currently, either when you do an update or when you download and import a new QFX file. This is the account you want to keep going forward, irrespective of wether it has the newest or oldest transactions. You want to move all the transactions from the other account into the one you're keeping, and then delete the now-empty other account. To move transactions, click on the account that's going to go away in the left sidebar, click on a transaction, and select Edit > Select All; with all the transactions now highlighted, click and drag one of them over to the other account (the one you're going to keep) in the left sidebar. Verify that the account which is going away is now empty of transactions; then Control-click on its name in the left sidebar and select Delete from the pop-up menu.

Post back if that's not clear.

P.S. Save a backup before you start, just in case something gets messed up trying to execute the steps described. Better safe than sorry. :)
