Transactions

It is March 1 2023 and I post a missing transaction for December 9, 2022 which just cleared and I can not save it. When it appears to have saved it is not in the reconciliation report and I search for the dollar amount and todays date shows with no transactions.

I am using Quicken premier which we just uploaded to and do not understand. Please help

Have you run out of disk space? You get that sort of non-action when there is not enough free diskspace for the Quicken file to expand since the .QDF file is actual a conbination of multiple files held together with a ZIP file mechanism.

There are a number of things you might have done incorrectly

When you attempted to save the transaction, did the balance change in the register? If not, the transaction was not saved which is why it is not showing in the reconciliation window and why it is not appearing when you search for the amount.

If the dollar amount you are searching for yields no results, perhaps the transaction was saved but you entered the incorrect amount. for example, if the transaction was for $26.80 and you mistakenly entered $26.90, then a search for $26.80 will yield no results.

Have you tried searching for the payee instead? If that yields a result, then you can edit the amount.

If you entered the transaction date incorrectly by not entering the December date but instead mistakenly entering a March date, then the transaction wouldn't show if you are reconciling for a statement ending date of Feb 28th for example.

I would start by first determining if your balance changed when entering the transaction. If you don't know. then try searching for the payee.

As a last resort, enter the transaction again using today's date and see if your balance changes. conduct the search for the transaction amount and if it appears, change the date back to December.

When reconciling in the future, if the transaction appears twice. you can delete one.

There is the sort by Order Entered which should put the new transaction at the bottom of the register making it easy to find IF it is there.
