@Linda Villarreal When you pull down the Transactions menu, New Transaction is the first item. Is it grayed out or black? If it's gray, it's because you're not in a transaction register (e.g. you're on a Budget, Calendar, Report or Bills & Income screen).
If it's black, and you select it, does a new blank transaction get created? If not, are you sure your register is scrolled to the top or bottom where new transactions appear? And are there any filters set which might prevent a blank new transaction from displaying? For instance, if you set the third filter to Last Downloaded, when you create a new transaction it will appear that nothing has changed — but the new transaction was created, and is not displayed because it was not in the group of last downloaded transactions; pressing the green Clear Filters button will reveal the empty blank transaction which was created.

Good morning - @jacobs -
Thank you for the troubleshooting steps. They only confirmed that the issue wasn't one of those items. I'm having the very same issue as Linda. Everything appears availlable (black text, nothing greyed out) but when we click on the buttons nothing happens. The add a transaction line doesn't appear.0 -
Are you running Quicken Starter with an expired subscription? Because Starter will become read-only when the sub runs out.
If not, you might try logging out of your Quicken account on the Quicken menu & then signing back in again to see if that clears anything up.

@Daniel LeSieur You're saying the New button doesn't work in a transaction register. Does the menu command (Transactions > New Transaction) work? Does the shortcut Command-N work?
The New button in the bottom menu bar is black, not gray?
Also, you said "when we click on the buttons nothing happens". Are there buttons other than New which don't work?

No sir, there weren't.
Unfortunately, that laptop died. I've switched to Windows. It's not a problem for me anymore.0
