Need to email a Quicken file in pieces, each under 30mb limit (edit)
Hi,
I'm trying to move a file off of a work system that has file movement restrictions implemented. Foolishly, I left my file on an old work system. The file is only 54mb, but I need to be able to email the pieces on office email with a 30mb limit.
How can I back the file up into 2 pieces? I tried copy and breaking at 2016 (the 7 year IRS limit) but the 2nd file with 7 years was larger than the total?!
HELP!

I suggest that you use a program to split your file, and the same one to join it back. You don't want to try to do it within Quicken because you will not get it back together and you won't be cutting it up into the sizes you think. For instance, if you take a data file with 14 years of data in it and user year end copy to split it in two, you will not get two files that are half the size.
Here is an article on how to split files:

Chris - Well, that was easy. Split and reassembled my backup file. I can't thank you enough, sir!
One last question, is it better to use the backup file and restore or a split and reconstituted mainfile with all the logs? I moved both, but restored the backup first.0 -
Even though either can be used, these days I would prefer just opening the (main) data file. What I'm seeing with Express Web Connect + is that if I use a backup I end up having to reset online connections to get them working again, whereas using the original data file Quicken and all the servers shouldn't even know anything changed.
