Buy a subscription to a new version to replace Quicken 2017 - from Brazil
Based on what I described above I have the following questions:
1. Can I buy a new version here in Brazil through an annual subscription?
2. Will this new version after a clean install recognize my account files (.QDF) and convert them to the new version?
3. Will I receive the application through a link here in BRAZIL?
4. Subscriptions are for 1 year, when the year ends and the subscription is not renewed will I lose access to my account?
Thanks

Can I buy a new version here in Brazil through an annual subscription?
Yes but some people from countries outside of the US have encountered some difficulties doing so. I think the two main things that will help to ensure success in placing an order with Quicken.com are to pay in USD (foreign currencies and payment options/cards will not be accepted) and entering a valid 5-digit US ZIP code in the online order form. The ZIP code must be a US ZIP code…I do not think it matters which one…some have suggested using the ZIP of your country's embassy in the USA.
Another thing that might help is to use a VPN service and select a US server (see more about this below).
You can also try buying the subscription from a US retailer (like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Costco, etc.). Both CD and download options are available if you can find one. The most important thing to get is the activation code since the Quicken software can be downloaded for free from Quicken.com but an activation code will be needed to complete the setup process and have a functional program.
Will this new version after a clean install recognize my account files (.QDF) and convert them to the new version?
Yes. During installation of the subscription program, your Quicken 2017 will be automatically upgraded and your QDF file will be fully compatible with it.
Will I receive the application through a link here in BRAZIL?
I do not think so. Quicken is not sold nor is it supported outside of the US and Canada. You can certainly try to download the application from
. Select the "I'm new to Quicken" option (you might not be new to Quicken but you will be a new subscriber) which should start the download process.Or you can place your subscription order via Quicken.com (it requires set up of a Quicken.com online account but since you have been using Quicken 2017 you should already have a Quicken.com account as that is also used for your Quicken ID and PW). Once the order is placed, download the app from your Quicken.com account and it should download, install and automatically activate from there.
If the download process does not work, you might want to try using a VPN and selecting a USA server location. I use Windscribe VPN which has a free option (for up to 10 gb of data each month), is add-free and they claim not to take/use any personal information. It also is very easy to select which server to use and there are quite a few in the US that you can select from. They have a server in Brazil so I think you should be able to download and install that without any problem.
Subscriptions are for 1 year, when the year ends and the subscription is not renewed will I lose access to my account?
No, you will not lose access to your data file and the information in it. If you subscribe to Starter edition it will become read-only. But if you subscribe to Deluxe, Premier or Home & Business you will be able to continue using Quicken manually. You should also note that if you do not renew there will be a banner reminding you to renew that will take up about 20%-25% of the screen and it cannot be removed without resubscribing. While that banner is a nuisance it does not affect manual use functionality.
A few final comments:
- I would recommend trying to place your order from your Quicken.com account instead of from a retailer. Quicken offeres a 30-day money back guarantee if you decide you do not like it and I am guessing it might be easier for you to get that refund if you placed the order on Quicken.com.
- There is only one Quicken software. There are no separate softwares for Starter, Deluxe, Premier and Home & Business. Your subscription will determine which edition you will have and it will turn on/off the appropriate features.
- Do not subscribe to Simplifi. Simplifi is an online sister app to Quicken but it is not compatible with the Quicken QDF file so you will not be able to transfer the data from your QDF file into Simplifi.
