When importing a QIF file, Quicken Subscription for the most part just puts the transactions into the register without any processing. It is always been true that the QIF importing didn't use Quicken's renaming rules, but with Quicken Subscription it doesn't match existing transactions in the register, and it doesn't use the memorized payees to fill in the category information. Strange enough it does still trigger transfer detection.
More information is here:
EDIT: I just saw your other question about this, and I will just make something clear. "without any processing" implies that QIF imports no longer go through the Downloaded Transactions tab. What's more this isn't even "automatic transaction entry mode". In automatic transaction entry mode transactions get the status of New or New Match, and can be unmatched and manually matched. Importing of QIF files/transactions into Quicken Sebscription has none of this. They just appear in the register. Note that the QIF format allows for setting the Clr status, categories, and tags before importing, but an external program like my free ImportQIF would have to do that. But when using Quicken Subscription it is probably better to convert to QFX format so that they normal Quicken import processing will kick in.

Thanks. In short, the new version got worse.

True, the only concession made is that Quicken Subscription will allow you to use the GUI to import into any account type. From Quicken 2004 to 2017 the GUI would only let you import QIF files into assets and liability accounts. But you could get around that by putting the account name and type in the QIF file and that would override that.
