401k balance
I'm hoping this is something simple and I'm missing something obvious.
In my 401k (TransAmerica, if it makes a difference), the cash balance is usually $0. Contributions are made from my paycheck and then immediately invested. A few weeks ago, there were some administraive charges, so they automatically sold some things to cover these chanrges. But for some reason, it made my balance negative instead of posivite. Not sure what's going on.
For example, they sold $5 worth of securities and I expected to then have a $5 balance, and my intent was to the create a transaction of $5 towards Fees, to bring the balance back to $0. But instead, selling $5 worh of servies results in a -$5 balance. Am I looking at this incorrectly?
Here is the $5 transaction, which looks fine and should have resulted in $5 being added to the accounts cash balance

I have to enter sales every quarter to pay the fees. I just put them in commission to zero out the total sale.
I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

My 1st guess would be that your data file is corrupted. Have you tried Validating it?
And since the balance after that initial shown $406.25 XIN is $0, why was the Balance negative before that?

Yes, I validated. Don't think there is anything wrong with the data. The prior trasnaction is just my contribution. Sometimes, transactaions are out of order and the buys occured first, leaving a negative balance, and then my contribution brought it to 0. That what's expected and normal

Yes, that's sort of what this is. But I don't understand why the sale, which could have added cash to the account, instead resulted in a negative balance

OK What happens if you, FIRST take a backup, then delete that $5 transaction and re-input it manually?
IF that works, I'd be inclined to delete the others and edit the $5 transaction to make it the sale of all those tiny pieces

Other than corruption and validation, I don't have an explanation for the negative amount on the sale. Everything else about the transaction entry you show looks correct.
If you enter some larger sale amount, same issue?
Are these sales you downloaded? If so you might re-create one manually. Same result?
