How to open Quicken data file without synching with cloud

I run Quicken on 2 different computers, primarily when traveling. Errors occurred during an update on one computer (laptop). I'm concerned that when I open Quicken on my desktop computer, that data file (stored on the desktop computer) is going to be corrupted by what's in the cloud data file. How can I prevent any synching upon opening the data file on the desktop computer?

One approach is to create a new empty data file, save the file with a name like "File for deleting cloud" or something, then, using that file, go to Edit > Preferences > Quicken ID & Cloud Accounts > "Cloud accounts associated with this ID" and on the screen that shows up, delete the cloud account associated with your "live" file.
