Unspecified accounts
Suddenly the splits in my payroll and payroll tax deposit entries are showing as "unspecified." This appears to have affected several years of reconciled transactions. How can I correct this, at least over the last couple of years and what in the world caused it?

Thank you for reaching out to the Quicken Community, though I do apologize that you are experiencing this issue.
To clarify, some of your split transactions are now showing as unspecified, however, you changed nothing?
If so, I suggest that you please try validating and/or super validating your data file. However, I do recommend that you first save a backup file prior to performing these steps.
Validate:- File
- Validate and Repair File...
- Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.
If the issue persists, proceed to Super Validate. If the issue is resolved after performing validation, then please disregard the instructions to Super Validate.
Super Validate:- File
- Hold CTRL + Shift and click Validate and Repair File...
- Super Validate File
- Click OK
- Close the Data Log
- Close Quicken (leave it closed for at least 5 secs)
- Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

I did both the Validate and the Super Validate, but the issue remains. From 07/02/2020 the designated categories in the split are blank, then they re-appear correctly from 12/15/2020 to 03/02/2021. At that point they change into "unspecified" categories.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and telling us about your issue, though I apologize that you are experiencing this.
If you haven't already, I suggest that you restore a backup that was saved prior to this issue occurring to restore any data that has already been affected. Then, turn off mobile sync to see if that may help prevent this issue from reoccurring.
Once you've restored the backup, please follow the instructions provided below to turn off sync.
- Navigate to Edit
- Preferences
- Mobile & Web
- Turn Sync OFF.
