I had to add remove 2 shares from the balance at the opening of the register to balance as after a certain date it said there were 2 extra shares but no transactions for it and it's a manual register not syncing with a brokerage so it would not have placeholder entries. and when I did that my lot that I said I bought 6 shares changed to the balance of 4 for that lot. the register math is broken I am running a validate but what's going on

The old file was corrupt and only some of the data has been recovered."2 scheduled transactions corrected

Corrected 1 Bought or Shares Added transaction that was incorrectly categorized as a realized gain.
If any of these should have been for a Cover Short Sale, you should modify them. Listed:

Your redacted snips are too incomplete to be much help diagnosing. I would not do the initial Remove Shares. I suspect that is what the validate is objecting too.

From where you are now as I understand it, I would delete the initial Remove Shares, and run the Validate including the option to rebuild lots.

If this is a very recent change, I would consider restoring a backup.

It is possible (conceivable) that Quicken applied a stock split without creating a stock split transaction (though that should not happen). Is that possible real-world - that the company had a recent 4:3 split?

It is a few years old share balance wrong. I ran the validate before removing the shares and after. It doesn't find any errors but I can't find any placeholders or splits or share in or anything that would cause the extra 2 shares to appear in the balance so I have to keep the 2 shares out to show the correct balance.

With that investment account register open, press CTRL-Z to recalculate all transactions. Let's see if that makes a difference.
(Might be a good idea to have or create a backup of your Quicken data file BEFORE you do that …)

    what does control z do

If your cursor is in the data field of an Investment account transaction list, clicking ctrl+z will recalculate the transactions in the account. It's a lightweight version of the 'rebuild investment lots' option when validating a file.

Note the idea is to be in a data field as if you were going to enter data, before doing CTRL+Z. You can also select any transaction and select Shift+CTRL+Z (data field doesn't have to be active).

seems to be similar to the issues in the closed thread that says fixed but it's not.

I see duplicate dividends that were downloaded I also see mismatched holdings the brokerage register is broken unless I add manual fix entries of shares in and shares out etc. and I have to manually update the cash balance

I also tried control z and it did not work

    Please fix

I tried the control Z and it didnt change anything

On one day it shows the amount of shares as 6 and the next after a dividend it shows as 8 but there was not split etc

I also noticed that for a single share holding market prices was accurate but for a qty of 8 it multiplied it by 10000 and was way off

something is very wrong in the way it is doing calculations

also divedents are being downloaded 2x sometimes so shows double the deviends in cash balance

its completely inaccurate and I need to have quicken support look at it. I have tried rebuilding and validating
