Why are manually entered transactions now automatically checking the cleared box? (Q Mac)

I have manually entered transactions in Quicken for Mac for years—in all of my accounts. Once the account is updated with the online account, those transactions THEN mark as cleared. Now, however, the transaction automatically marks as cleared in my credit card accounts—even if the charge hasn't even hit the bank yet. How do I stop this from happening? It is very frustrating as it is basically providing false information. I've searched everywhere I can find a "settings" menu to make sure I haven't inadvertently checked a box but I cannot find anything. Hopefully I am just overlooking it because this is not a feature that I like.

Is this for all transactions, or just a few for a specific payee(s)? What you describe sounds like a saved QuickFill Rule for the payee(s) has the "Mark as Cleared" checkbox set. Go to Window > Payees & Rules, click the QuickFill Rules tab, find a Payee where this has happened, and open the rule to see if that checkbox is checked.

Ok. This is it but HOW did all of these payees get marked like that? I mean it is a LOT of payees and I don't really do a lot with the quick fill rules because I find them annoying for my purposes. More importantly, probably, is there a bulk way to revert this or do I have to go one-by-one through the payees to fix it. Mind you, this only started since on of the recent updates. It is not something that I did (not intentionally anyway).

I don't know why this would be happening to all your transactions; I'm not experiencing it, and haven't seen other reports of it.

I don't know of any way to mass edit QuickFill Rules. But you can mass delete them, if that would be less work.

And if you don't love QuickFill rules, make sure your Settings > Register has the box for "Automatically create a rule when I edit a transaction" unchecked.

Hmm, and that might explain how you're getting the QuickFill rules with the "Mark as Cleared" checkbox set. Is it possible that after you've marked transactions cleared, you've made any edit to them? And the "Automatically create a rule when I edit a transaction" preference is checked.

Nope. Already checked that. All automatic quickfill options are unchecked—just because I don't like them. Will deleting all the quickfill rules change any of my already entered and cleared transactions?

    No, not at all.
