approving downloaded transactions
in an "older version" quicken would download transactions to a separate window below the register. It would then "match" what it could and you would approve or modify and approve. then the balance of the transactions stayed out of the register until approved. Now it puts transactions into the register (including ones already (manually) entered and makes no effort to match them up. Also it picks names from the downloads that aren't even close to the actual vendor & puts categories that often make no sense. (I get a lot of Tpn Fo that are gas stations or parking lots)
How do i get the transactions to be entered in a separate area for approval?

Nothing has changed at a "version" level. What has changed is that one or more of your Accounts has been switched from "Automatic entry is off" to "Automatic entry is on." Go the the Online Services tab in the Account Details window and fix that and the downloaded entries will again show up in the Downloaded Transactions window.

Where are the "Auto-accept downloaded transaction" settings?
There are two places where this is controlled in Quicken for Windows:
- Globally, for all accounts, in Edit / Preferences / Downloaded Transactions
- For each account individually, the global setting can be overridden from the Edit Account Details screen, Online Services Tab. Look for blue text "Automatic Entry is: ON / OFF". Click the text to change the setting.0
