My backup file is almost a 1/2 gig. Do I really need to be backing up that much data. It goes back to 2011.

Let me guess, you store attachments in your Quicken data file. My data file goes back to 1996, has 31 accounts in it and a physical size of 104MB and there is no way I would part with any of that information. I wish it went back further, but that was the day of floppy disk backups and a 6 diskette backup was a real hassle to make.

Yes, your data file is large and backups are an all or nothing process.

If you do have attachments in it, you have to ask yourself if it is worth it. The only way in/out of Quicken is one at a time via Quicken. Quicken encrypts them in such a way that if you took the .QDF data file apart, you would not be able to independently decrypt them.

Keeping them in a file/folder structure outside of Quicken would reduce your Quicken data file size and make them available without a dependence on Quicken.
