It would be very helpful if we could select by "security type" when generating these reports.

What edition (Starter, Deluxe, Premier, etc) are you running?

Which report(s) are you referring to? With the Investing > Portfolio views and most of the investing reports you can subtotal (AKA Group) by Security Type, and with the reports you can also select particular security Types.
