The total for a security shown in the security report is incorrect

in the security detail view the number of shares held is incorrect and does not agree with the total calculated from the transcation history (which is correct)

Are there any Placeholders for this security?
To be sure Placeholders are visible in account Transaction lists (registers), go to Edit > Preferences > Investing and make sure Show hidden transactions is checked.

Oops. I just found a hidden, separate account that has the extra shares. Isn't there a way to keep these out of the totals?

Separate accounts are not included by default in reports, but they are always included on the Security Details page.
