Can't Activate Account Downloads - Quicken crashes - also doing Validate - Quicken crashes (edit)

Options

This question has come up multiple times, when trying to active transaction downloads from a bank my screen turns gray and locks up.

Signing out of Quicken and signing back in does not solve the problem.

What Q product are you running, and what BUILD of that product? This info is at HELP, About Quicken.

What's the name of your bank, as it's known in Q? What type of accounts are you trying to download? Have you activated these accounts for download?

Q user since February, 1990. DOS Version 4
Now running Quicken Windows Subscription, Business & Personal

    Capital One credit card.

I'm trying to activate them within Q. That's where the problem is occurring.

If you haven't done so already, please do the following actions:
    • Even if you are on the latest software level already, download and install the latest Manual Patch file from https://www.quicken.com/support/update-and-patch-20182019-release-quicken-windows-subscription-product to ensure your Quicken software is up to date and correctly installed.
    • Reboot Windows.
    • Start Quicken. Do not run One Step Update.
    • Run BOTH Validate and Supervalidate to attempt to repair your Quicken data file.
    • Now try activating your account(s) using Tools / Add Account. Follow instructions. If you are prompted to access the bank's website for an authorization process, please do so. Then, when back in Quicken on the list of accounts found at the bank, carefully (click to) LINK the bank account to the already existing Quicken account register.

    Validate and Supervalidate instructions
First save a backup file prior to performing these steps
    Validate:
    • Click File
    • Select Validate and Repair File...
    • Select Validate File
    • If the data file contains investment accounts also select "Rebuild investing lots".
    • If you suspect that a damaged Quotes Price History causes your problems, also select "Correct investing price history" functions "Delete" or "Repair and Rebuild".
    • Click OK
    • Close the Data Log
    • Close Quicken (leave it closed for about 30 secs)
    • Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

    Super Validate:
    • Click File
    • Press and hold both CTRL and Shift keys while you click Validate and Repair File...
    • Select Supervalidate File
    • Click OK
    • Close the Data Log
    • Close Quicken (leave it closed for about 30 secs)
    • Reopen Quicken and see if the issue persists.

I downloaded and ran the manual update. Q crashes when validating the file but validation log shows it ran. Q crashes when running the super validating process and I can't do anything else.

Try restoring a data file backup and see if the issue exists.
