Please help… this is very frustrating that I have to open a backup file each time I log into the program.

Recommend you close Quicken and copy this file to a new folder, C:\Users\Laurel\Quicken, and rename it to something other than "backup copy". After copy is complete, double-click the file in its new location to start Quicken and begin using this file.

Important for Windows 11 users: The folder where you store your Quicken data file MUST NOT be processed by Microsoft One Drive! As of the latest Windows 11 Updates One Drive now interferes with Quicken operations. See other related discussions in this Community for more details.

If this OneDrive issue just recently started for you and if you have been using Quicken since before this issue started, open Quicken and go to File > Find Quicken Files. This will quickly search your hard drive for all .QDF and .QDF-backup files. When the search is completed you can review the results to see which file might the be one you are looking for and where it is located on your hard drive. You can then open that file and start using that directory for saving your data files in the future.
