US Bank failure to connect
For the past week I have been trying to add a US Bank credit card to Quicken. When I click the link in Quicken, it takes me to US Bank. I log in and click all of the right boxes and links. Then the wheels start turning, and turning, and turning…. After 5 minutes I get a timed out message from Quicken. At the same time an email arrives from US Bank telling me everything is OK! But there is still no account in Quicken. I have read virtually every posting on this website about US Bank. I have tried all of the suggestions and "fixes." Nothing works. I spoke to US Bank support and they say the problem is with Quicken. I am open to suggestions. Thank you.

Which download method are you using to connect to USB? Their implementation of Express Web Connect has ALWAYS been flaky, which is why I consider it to be well worth the money to pay $3.95/month for Direct Connect.
Also, get on the line with USB Tech Support and have them walk you thru their process to connect . It's non-standard and their online instructions are obtuse, at best.

Thank you. To be honest, my one credit card with US Bank isn't worth paying extra. I can log in manually. I was online with US Bank and we were not successful.

I have 2 checking accounts (hers & mine), and a fairly active credit card at USB … which is why the $3.95 is worth it to me.
I'd agree that a moderately active card only wouldn't be worth the expense.

I'm having the same problem. I think somehow the problem is with my file as if I create a new account (in a new file) it connects and downloads without issue.

I'm having the same problem, however, all of my accounts are with US Bank so I need this to work. I have one account that I don't want in Quicken and that one is the problem according to Quicken. I have tried adding that account in US Bank to see if it would work, but it didn't. I can't update any of my US Bank accounts in Quicken. I use Quicken Classic Deluxe Version 7.5.2 (Build 705.51955.100). macOS 13.6.3
US Bank said it is Quicken's problem. Please help.

I have no idea if the problem is Quicken's or US Bank's. Every time I try to add US Bank to Quicken, I receive an Email from US Bank saying that it was successful; however, nothing connects. If I log onto the US Bank site and go to the Controls section, it says that access by Quicken has been revoked by US Bank. I have had problems with US Bank's software setup in the past and I'm not really impressed by its IT department. The problem is that no one seems to want to do anything about finding the cause of the problem regardless of where the fault lies. I really don't care where the problem is - I just want it fixed.

For me, the inability of Quicken to connect with US Bank started in Nov. 2023, as did this thread. I have on going support cases with both Quicken & US Bank support and below is my latest email to US Bank technical support:
01/19/24 Update: I just talked to Quicken tech support, and the person I spoke to confirmed they still have an alert about the issue & they are working on it. She had me do the “Help-Report a problem” routine again and gave me a new ticket & said to check in another week.
Your last email on 01/12/24 said your developers think the problem is with Quicken. But I wonder if this is true. I checked the US Bank data in the following personal finance account aggregators I have been using and found the following:
Quicken: US Bank has data from 03/31/23 when I started, but nothing since 11/09/23.
e-Money: used for investments since 09/30/19 and it quit syncing to US Bank on 11/06/23. I don't believe in coincidences
Mint: connection to US Bank started 04/24/22 and still works. I am afraid to test it or lose it since Intuit recently announced they are moving Mint to Credit Karma in March.
In frustration with Quicken, I tried these other personal finance account aggregators: Tiller, Kubera, and Empower, and none will connect to US Bank. However, all 6 of these programs connect to my 2 investment institutions (Schwab & Western International Securities).
From my perspective the problem appears to be US Bank, not Quicken.
Perhaps this info might help the US Bank developers resolve the issue.

I had the same issue with Citi as I am having with U.S. Bank in trying to get this to update in Quicken.
It took a while but Citi cards now are both downloading correctly.
US Bank is not and hasn't been working since last month. I have been authenticated six times now but always fail when trying to connect with Quicken.
Guess my US Bank cards will go on hold until they get this resolved. Time is too short to have to update US Bank account manually.

I believe you are correct in thinking that US Bank is the problem here. I just updated to the latest Quicken which apparently corrected problems connecting to certain banks, but my attempt to link US Bank failed again with Quicken timing out while waiting for the US Bank connection on the link. My last Quicken update from US Bank was mid November. I have been manually entering data, but that is getting old. US Bank sends me an email that I have successfully added Quicken, but the US Bank website says that Quicken access has been revoked by US Bank, though there is a message on the website saying just the opposite.

I want to add that I am thinking that the problem is US Bank's utilization of Akoya to finalize the linking of the accounts to Quicken may be the problem.

Somewhat of a relief to see that I am not the only one. Everytime Quicken updates, I hope the problem has been fixed, but so far it hasn't I also had the brief issue with Citibank, but now it is working. Web Connect works, but that requires extra steps. Does beat having to type in the numbers by hand, however.

I called US Bank Tech Support this week to see what they are doing about the issue and they told me that there is no issue and that it's Quicken's problem, not theirs. The rep told me that Quicken couldn't connect properly with US Bank, even though Quicken connects to US Bank and initiates the authorization procedure where US Bank is supposed to contact Intuit, but, apparently, never does. Basically, she blew me off.
At this point, I have zeroed out my US Bank card and changed all automatic charges to the account. The cards are now locked in my safe. If this is not resolved in the next couple of months, I will just close the account as it's not worth the hassle even though I do like the cash back choice system they offer. I can come close to those cash back benefits on my other cards though.

Yesterday 02/02/24 I was on phone w/ Quicken support for over 2 hours and my case was escalated to “Level 3” after sharing my screen and doing everything they wanted to try They have my files per “report a problem” option under Help menu. I also shared my email exchanges with US Bank tech support and was told to watch for email request for more information or source of problem. Fingers crossed!

Quicken just sent out a notice that the issue has been resolved, but the problem remains the same.

I did not see a notice or get an email from Quicken support, but I did try to connect to US Bank today and it didn’t work.
It also failed to connect with Tiller, Empower, or eMoney

This has been going on for some time now and there were a number of discussions opened on it, but it appears that all but this one have been closed. I am coming to the conclusion that US Bank and Quicken have given up on the problem which I am 90% convinced is on US Bank's end. I think that I will probably just cancel my US Bank accounts and be done with it. I have already stopped using them, so it seems like the easiest solution and, from what I am seeing, the only one that will work.

My last posting was on 1/26/2024 and since then nothing has changed. Same issue with U.S.Bank not updating at all. My U.S.Bank is a Kroger/King Soopers card and it has not worked on Quicken since late November of last year. Just received a credit card from AAA Visa that goes thru U.S.Bank and it works fine. ??????????? Here is the latest I have seen. The US.Bank pathway goes thru Intuit then will not go thru Quicken. U.S. Bank goes thru Intuit and does go thru Mint. Mint updates but Quicken doesn't? I agree with the postings above regarding not using U.S.Bank credit cards. My U.S.Bank Mastercard was used for purchasing groceries at our local King Soopers' stores. It will now collect dust in my desk drawer until fixed. Other cards match the cashback this card offers and work just fine on Quicken. Spent enough time on this and time to move on.

I also had Mint & eMoney connected to all my business & personal US Bank accounts working fine. In March I started transitioning to Quicken, but I can't get Quicken or eMoney to work since November. I also tried to connect Tiller, Kubera, and Empower, and none will connect to US Bank. Your question "The US Bank pathway goes thru Intuit then will not go thru Quicken. U.S. Bank goes thru Intuit and does go thru Mint. Mint updates but Quicken doesn't?" is a good one.
I just logged into Mint and got this message "Mint is moving to Credit Karma in 24 days". Reviews are not good for making this move, so shouldn't Quicken be motivated to stop going through Intuit to get connection to US Bank working since it is the 5th largest bank in the country and Quicken could gain market share.

I just purchased Quicken and began adding accounts. When I tried to add US Bank (my primary checking account and two mortgage accounts) it refuses to connect and just sits there and spins until it times out. I had the same issue with US Bank and Empower- one of the reasons I went ahead and purchased Quicken.
Looks like now Quicken will be of no use to me either. Sad… I liked what I saw but if it won't connect what good is it. Might be US Bank's fault. They are not my favorite; in 14 months I will have the mortgages paid off and can cut ties with them and move everything to my credit union. Anyhow, just adding my 2 cents worth of frustration.

** UPDATE **
I tried it again and this time ignored the warning that I needed to reconnect. I clicked "remind me later" and everything seems to have downloaded fine!

I'm having the same issue. It requested I reconnect and I go through the steps and it says it was successful. But when I get back to Quicken, I notice in the list of US Bank accounts I've connected (business, personal checking, savings, money market, credit card), they all say "Don't add to Quicken" under "Action" and I have no way of changing that.It appears my last successful download was February 2, 2024.

After more than four months of not being able to connect, I finally achieved success last night. However, I noticed that things have changed again on the US Bank website so I suspect they have been playing around with things while denying it was their problem.
For the possible help to others, here is what I did. I shut down all malware and virus software and turned off the VPN. I then made Microsnot Edge the default browser and disabled all security features in it including the pop-up blockers. I opened Quicken. I had earlier tried to reset the US Bank account connection in Quicken, so it was not show as set up (this may be important to some). I hit the + symbol to add a new account and followed the instructions (make sure you select Express Web Connect and not Direct Connect unless you have a Direct Connect account). Edge opened and I logged on and hit the authorization button. It then asks what accounts. I clicked on the credit card account, but I did not highlight the statements or tax information boxes or the authorize everything box. After that, it went through the connection to Intuit like it was supposed to and sent me back to Quicken like it was supposed to.
In the past, it never completed the connection to Intuit, though it would send me an email telling me that everything was set up. One thing that I noticed on the US Bank Internet Banking site is that the options to view those to whom you have authorized access seems to have disappeared from the Manage accounts page. It may come back, but it wasn't there yesterday. On my site, it used to say Quicken's authority had been revoked by US Bank.

@schmieg holy smokes that worked. Primarily just setting Edge to default browser.
Thank you!!

Glad it worked and happy to help.

** UPDATE **
As noted earlier, I lost my connection to US Bank on 11/09/23 and had numerous support calls with both US Bank & Quicken to fix it. Last week, as my subscription was ending and I was getting tired of manually transferring my US Bank data into Quicken, I got more persistent and my Quicken support ticket was escalated 3 times after 1-2 hour Quicken support calls each time, I was finally able to connect to US Bank with the following procedure:
- Be sure VPN & Windows Defender are off
- Be sure Edge is default browser & up to date (I never got it to work using Chrome)
- Be sure Edge extensions ( except password manager Dashlane) are off
- Be sure Edge Tracking Prevention is off & cache data is cleared
- Clear all browsing history
- Start menu search type “cleanmgr” to get the Disk Cleanup Utility, then chose drive that you use for Quicken
- Select Temporary files, Delivery Optimization Files, DirectX Shader Cache, Temporary Internet Files
- In Quicken chose “Add account” and use US Bank account login and select desired accounts
- Assuming this works for you, inspect date range of downloaded data and if any period is missing, US Bank has good option to export data by date range for each of your accounts
- After a few days of successful data updates, you should be able reset virus protection
- This method also worked with [Removed - 3rd-Party Softwares]

That's three of us that this has worked for and I assume (hope) there are many more who have not responded. Interestingly, I had the same problem recur several days later on PNC. I used the same procedure to get that back up and running. I think the problem is that new system that US Bank and PNC (and probably some others) are adopting.
