Quicken 2013 - How do I restore a backup file?

Options

I had a computer crash. Now that I am back up, I am running Quicken Deluxe 2013. I have a .QDF-backup file which I am trying to restore. I click on restore from backup (it was from an automatic backup) but that option is greyed out. So I went to restore from your backup and point to the file and I get an error message saying "could not restore the file" with no other detail. Any suggestions as to what I can do? I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Copy the file the .QDF-backup file to where you want your data file to be with the name you want, but withl the type .QDF instead of .QDF-backup. Double click on that .QDF file to open it. A .QDF-backup is internally no different than a .QDF file.

When did the backup extension get the -backup added, was that backup naming convention in place for Q2013?

Quicken user since Q1999. Currently using QW2017.

Yes it is in my Quicken 2013. My notes say the -backup was added in 2010.

I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.
