same questions about kohls with a different twist
I am using windows 11, with windows deluxe, version R53.26. I recently opened a new file because of difficulties with the older file and when attempting to add Kohls credit card for download, it would not connect. It is not a capital one credit card so far as I know. I get a quicken error 505 and an explanation that Kohls is blocking quicken users from downloads. Funny thing is I can still connect using the old file. In examaning the old file I see that the new file is trying to connect to Kohls.com (shopping website) instead of the credit.kohls.com website. This is a problem with your software not adding the correct website address when trying to set up a Kohls account. Have you tried to provide the correct link or are you just blaming it all on Kohls?> If they were indeed blocking quicken downloads then why does my older file have no issues with connecting to credit.kohls.com and downloading new transactions. In reading the now closed file on Kohls complaints here in the discussion forum, you have not remotely addressed the concerns, and are not providing any useful information . At this rate, you can probably expect to lose some customers. This is my first complaint using the community discussion, so I am leery of what might happen with further problems and the seeming lack of concern on Quicken's part. No way should the same problem continue to get lip service instead of solutions for months on end, according to the long list of questions I have read through. Shame on your service! And no, I do not expect a reply in keeping with the lousy service.

You are posting something in a users forum. If you wish to make Quicken aware of your concerns you should contact Quicken Support.
The issue you are describing has been clearly identified as being caused by Kohl's and Kohl's has admitted it many times. Kohl's made some system changes last July and that is when they blocked connections from Quicken (and I understand from other financial planning softwares as well). You can call Kohl's and, assuming you get a customer service person who knows anything about Quicken, you will be told that it is they who initiated and are maintaining the connection block. You also can send Kohl's a message from your online account and they will kick back a canned response that looks like this.:
The URL we see during Add Account is simply for our reference. It has nothing to do with how Quicken connects to the financial institution because Quicken connects to financial institutions differently than we do.
Should the URL be changed? Probably but that is not something Quicken can do. It needs to be requested by Kohl's of Intuit who is the aggregator that owns and manages the FIDIR (Financial Institutions Director) list. The FIDIR is what tells Quicken which financial institutions support Quicken, which connection method(s) they support, which types of accounts they support and what kind of data they will download.
BTW, here is what the FIDIR shows for Kohls. Note that the URL you would like to see shown in Quicken is already included in this listing and where it is positioned in the listing is much more important.:
25122 25122 25122 Kohls Credit Card https://www.kohls.com/ 1-800-564-5740 https://credit.kohls.com/ecs/auth/?cid=AAAA4151001 ACTIVE CREDIT,ACCOUNTINFO&EXP-WEB-CONNECT NOT_QBP NA
But I am curious about how you are able to connect with and download from Kohl's in the old file. That should not be happening because Kohl's has said that are only permitting statement (not transactions) downloads in PDF format at this time which is not the format that Quicken uses.
- If you go to the Online Services tab of Account Details, what does it show there for financial institution that your account is connected with? I don't have a connected Kohl's account anymore but it should look like what is shaded in yellow except it should say Kohl's Credit Card instead of Macy's Credit Card. Are you seeing this there?
- Also, above the Account Register on the left and below the Account Name, what does it show for the last download date and time? It should look something like what is shaded in yellow. Does the date correlate with your understanding of when you last downloaded something from Kohl's?:

the financial institution is Kohls Credit Card … there is no date below the name Kohls in the register for the last download. My last download transaction was 8/28/23. I had two transactions unreconciled … so I just now hit download transactions before reconciling and quicken went through the download and listed the account download as complete. It then reconciled correctly. I have not bought anything recently so am not ablle to see if it is still downloading properly. But I cannot imagine why it would go through the process and tell me the download is complete if they were blocking me. On my newer file it will not go through the process … again the attempt to set up the account takes me to their Kohls.com site and not the credit card site, So something is happening different than what you explained The website connection does make a difference. When I originally set up quicken for download it used the credit card website as the url and it has not been changed since I set it up about a year ago or more. So Kohls has some explaining to do if this is the case. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Seems like there are a lot of people who think quicken has not been responding to the problem, judging from the comments in the community forum.

Maybe I will make a charge on my kohls credit card and see if it then downloads once listed. I will let you know if it works after the holidays.

Everything that I've stated here is not simply my opinion. It has been stated numerous times by others in the other post threads and in the Alert on this subject as well as documented evidence from Kohl's stating that the issue was caused by them and that they apparently have not prioritized fixing it or perhaps are not even working to fix it.
Yes, there are a number of people who think Quicken is being unresponsive but these are people who either have not read through the threads or do not want to believe that this is a situation over which Quicken has absolutely no control. But really, what is Quicken suppose to say that they have not already said in their Alert when Kohl's is not letting them know what their plan is?: ONGOING 11/4/23 Kohl's Credit Card- CC-502/FDP-102, CC-505/FDP-105. IMO, placing the blame on Quicken for something that Kohl's has taken full ownership of is at best misplaced.
As further evidence that the URLs for financial institutions shown in Quicken are for our user reference only and not used by Quicken for connections: Go to Add Account and start clicking on the URL links under the financial institution names. Select your own financial institutions or select others at random. You will see that some will indeed will open the account login webpage but you will also notice quite a few (such as, PNC Bank, Fidelity NetBenefits and Elan Financial Services) that simply take you to their home pages (like Kohl's does), not the account login webpage. The URL that is referenced in Quicken simply takes us to the webpage that the financial institution wants US to go to. Perhaps Kohl's made a mistake but my guess is that they purposely want us to go to the store webpage in a Marketing attempt to entice us into buying something from Kohl's before we maneuver to the credit card login webpage.
As mentioned earlier, the www.kohls.com URL shown in Quicken is nothing that Quicken can change. Only Intuit and Kohl's can correct that. If that URL is to be changed, it is something that Kohl's needs to request Intuit to do.
You mentioned that Quicken is taking you to www.kohls.com when you try to do Add Account or Set Up Now. I have never seen that happen with any financial institution (except when the financial institution has switched their connection method to EWC+). When I do Add Account for Kohl's (I just tried, again) all that opens for me is this Quicken popup, not a Kohl's webpage. You are seeing something different than this? If so, would you do a print screen (hide any confidential information) and post it in this thread?:
The downloads from Kohl's for the most part stopped in July, although I seem to recall (not sure) getting one or two updates in August. The error codes at first were CC-502/CC-505/CC-555 error codes and sometimes it is just the "Oops. There was a connection problem" error message that popped up. Then in August I noticed the same thing you noticed….that there was no date & time shown for the last download in the Account Register (and in Account List)…or that there was sometimes no update information at all in the OSU Summary report. Both are strong indications of a totally broken download connection.
Thanks for confirming that you are not seeing the last download date & time in the Account Register. That is a pretty clear indication that while Kohl's might still be included in OSU when you run it there is nothing that is actually being downloaded. During OSU you might still get the picture that shows Kohl's is being updated and in the OSU Summary Report it might show on the right that it was completed. But the OSU Summary Report does something that IMO needs to be corrected or at least clarified because it gives the wrong impression of what the date and time shown on the right mean. See the following picture for more details on this.:
To see when the date of the last newly downloaded data occurred, you need to click on the blue font link beneath the financial institutions showing the number of accounts that were updated. Click on those links to get the popup showing that information.:
I'm guessing that when you click on the blue font link below Kohl's showing the number of accounts that were updated you will see no date listed there or it will be from several months ago. But please do let me know if you see a recent date because that would be really interesting and that could perhaps be used to push back Quicken to get a new update from Kohl's.
BTW, I think your idea to purchase something on your Kohl's card and then to try to download the transaction is a really good idea. Please be sure to post the results back here.
