Tax Planner doesn't use "next instance" value in scheduled transactions

I have noticed this in the Estimated Taxes area, but I'm pretty sure this bug is in everywhere in the tax planner. Say you have a scheduled reminder for $250 for the estimated taxes, and then you override the last amount to a different value. The Tax Planner will still use the $250 and not the overridden value.

I don't see this. If I change the amount on the final estimated tax payment, my Tax Planner uses it.

Maybe I'm unclear on what you mean by "override"?

    Well, this what I get:

    Reminder:

Tax Planner (Corrected to select the scheduled, but no real change):

Note that if I were to change all future reminders to $1000 then it would change. I'm talking about the overriding of just the next instance.

I think it depends how you do it.

If I double-click the final scheduled estimate in the tax planner details window and change the amount in the resulting dialog, the new value is used.

If I instead go directly to the reminders list and edit the reminder there, I agree the new value doesn't get into tax planner.

What you did, changed all of the future reminder instances. I want to only change the next instance.

I'm sure you know the work around but for others who maybe don't, enter the reminder (leaving the date as scheduled) and change the amount in the pop-up window or the account register transaction. Entering the reminder early (with the future payment date as scheduled) is also helpful for projecting next year's cash flow by allowing a new value to be entered for 2024 estimated taxes.

There are multiple workarounds. What you suggested @markus1957, and what I actually did is select No Projected Amount, and then in the Adjustment field put in the right amount. You could also, leave it at Scheduled and just change the Adjustment to be the difference between the old amount and the new one. You could also just do what @Rocket J Squirrel did and change for all the future reminders and then remember to change it back on the next one.
