It seems strange to be the first to ask about Goldback Notes

… but a search came up with no results.

I am buying small notes called "Goldbacks". A form of gold ownership. The value is based empirically using a number of gold indices to get an average. So, one can buy a 1 Goldback note for ~$4.25. A month later that note can be theoretically traded for $5.00.

How would one track the number of Goldback notes (they can 1, 5, 10, 25, 50) one owns and then would one track the value they were obtained for and how would one adjust for variations of value that fluctuates with the price of real gold?

TIA

One way would be to create pseudo-securities for each of the rotational value notes in an offline Investment Account. Then, as you buy these you enter your purchases as you would any other security. Each purchase of each security would constitute a "lot." Your Holdings view would show the number of shares of each of these securities and the lot-level detail.

Daily you'd update the "quote" for each "security." Presumably you can get this information from the issuer's web site. This would be done manually.
