I am using quicken classic deluxe for Mac (offline). There is no toolbar option in view.
no toolbar showing in view. I am not in full view as was suggested might be the problem in another discussion. Using quicken classic deluxe for Mac not online. Want to add categories

There is an optional toolbar at the bottom of any register screen. Go to Settings > Register and set the Register Toolbar to "Always show". I leave it this way all the time, even though I generally use keyboard commands for many of the icons int he toolbar.
But if you're looking to add categories, that's not done from a toolbar. Go to Window > Categories to open the ancillary Categories window. (Same for other ancillary screens for creating Securities, Tags, Payees & Rules, etc.)
