Adding missing scheduled mortgage payments

After importing my Quicken data following a computer re-set, some of my scheduled mortgage payments showed up as simple transfers from my checking account and did not register as mortgage payments with the requisite splits. I am not certain how to edit the transactions at this point to reflect their correct status.

I assume what you're saying here that some of your loan payments showed the full amount of the payment as "principal", principal to the loan Account?

If that's the case then in the checking Account you find those payments and split them up properly:

Principal portion on the first line, interest on the second line, any "extra" principal paid on the 3rd line, and any escrow amount on the 4th line.

The lender's web site should provide the proper splits for each payment if you don't know those numbers.
