Duplicate transaction only found in search
I have a problem with the cash balance in an investment account. Today I figured out that search returns two transactions for the same debit. However, only one of them actually shows up in the register. When I try to edit the other one from search it goes to the next transaction after that date.
How can I get rid of this phantom extra transaction? Balance is correct in account register; but not in Investing screen; nor in left accounts bar. So I can't simply delete the one I can see. Then things are off. I need to delete the one I CANNOT see.

The invisible one stays, and if I try to edit it takes me to the next entry in the ledger.

Have you tried doing a Validate (File menu)?

Just tried Validate. Got a whole bunch of output - mostly to do with closed accounts. I don't see anything related to this particular transaction, and both (real and phantom) are still there after the validation.
