Local Backup link does not work.

Options

I have been trying to backup the account file on a USB Drive, since last three days. It keeps bouncing with same error message, saying "Unable to open Source File" and in the background window, it says "Backing Up<> File Name<>Date<>.QDF-Backup"

Here is the screenshot.

I also did few exercise, posted suggestions here on the Community. Including the "VALIDATE" and "SUPER VALIDATE" options. But nothing is working.

Could some one help please?

Thanks.

Pat

That error message tends to indicate that the data file can't be accessed by the backup routine. Are you running DropBox or OneDrive and is the data file in a location that they are grabbing hold of the data file between the time that Quicken closes the file and then accesses it for the backup.

If so, pause the cloud service before starting Quicken to prevent this from happening.

-splasher using Q continuously since 1996
    - Subscription Quicken - Win11 and QW2013 - Win11

BINGO !! YES !!! That's the Trap. The DROPBOX access was the culprit. As soon as I turned of Cloud Syncing, the backup on a USB was just in a wink.

    Fantastic advice.

    😁Thanks a million 'Splasher' !!
