I want to transfer shares from one account to another and was able to transfer the shares in Enter Transaction/Transfer shares but transactions did not transfer with shares. How can I transfer the transactions into the receiving account? (Would like to have the older transactions to track overall performance of stock) (Using Quicken Classic Deluxe, R54.16 on Win 11)

The way "Transfer shares" works is it puts in a "Remove shares" transaction for each of the lots of the security in the old account and puts in "Add shares" with the right cost basis in the new account. It doesn't move the actual transactions. This makes the cost basis correct, but some of the "return" calculations are based on the transactions. So, if you are for instance looking at just the new account in the Investing tab → Portfolio this number and anything based on it will be wrong, since it is "starting over". As @Q97 suggested combining them in a report gets all the transactions, but the reports don't have all the same kinds of data that the Investing tab → Portfolio has in it.

You can get the return to be correct by group by security not account, but then you lose being able to separate the returns from different accounts. The other option than "Transfer shares" is to use the "Move Transactions" on the gear icon menu. That way all the transactions are in one account and the calculations can be done accurately grouped by account. But now you have just changed the history since the transactions aren't in the old account.

You have to decide what works best for you. In general, it seems that the SuperUsers that know more about investing tend to say that the "return calculations" (the ones that aren't just a download value) are very reliable anyways and to use ones you would find in the investment reports (which also show up in the Investing tab → Portfolio).

To keep the accounting accurate, it is better to leave the old transactions in the account in which they occurred. For performance analysis, you can include both the old and new accounts in the reports, so that the full history is part of the analysis.

@bensd13 if by chance you are transferring shares and cash because you changed brokerages, we have a FAQ covering methods for changing brokerages.
