Missing transactions - if I download monthly WEB Connect (qfx file) and import...

I'm missing all my transactions that should have been downloaded from Bank of America (checking and multiple credit cards) from 9/6/23 to 9/24/23.

If I get September and October WEB Connect files for each of my accounts from BoA (each statement goes thru the 8th of the month), and import to Quicken, I guess I can fill the gaps. But what will happen to the duplicate transactions, e.g., that I already have from before and after my gap, which will also be in the WEB Connect files. Will I have double-transactions in Quicken?

How do I best handle?

Thanks,

BillC

@stego usually when you download transactions using Web Connect you usually can choose the start and end dates for your transaction file. I am sure that US Bank has this feature.

If you have already downloaded transactions for a time period, Quicken will not download the transactions for that time period again. This is so not to download duplicate transactions. How well this works sometimes depends on the financial institution.

Depending on how many transactions are missing I'm not really a fan of the idea of downloading the QFX file to fill in the gaps.

Quicken uses the unique Ids in the downloaded transactions to decide if a transaction is a duplicate of one it has already downloaded.

The problem is that the unique Id used in the Web Connect/QFX is almost certainly going to be different than the one used Express Web Connect + because they are completely different systems. At least that is true for Chase.

The only reason why switching from Direct Connect to Express Web Connect + didn't cause a lot of duplicates is because of some kind of "matching" on the Quicken servers:

And a change to the "matching formula" seems to be the cause of the current missing transactions.

Now when you reverse the flow as in download and import a Web Connect/QFX file, the server isn't involved (which is a good thing for not blocking transactions that are really new and not mistaken for duplicate), but it also means that it will not block the actual duplicate transactions that have already been downloaded using Express Web Connect +.

Here I just did that for one of my Chase credit cards:

Not a good result! Since I'm not missing any transactions in this account at the moment, all those New transactions are duplicates.

Oh, I should have said how I would handle it. My preference would be to hand enter the missing transactions. If the transactions finally download using Express Web Connect + those should match to the existing manually entered ones.
