How to change an account #

I have gotten a new account # for one of my payees. I discovered that that's not one of the fields you can edit, so I deleted and set up a new one with the new information. And i get "The payee has already been entered into Quicken …." I though maybe it had to be restarted to "forget" the payee, but no dice. What do I have to do to get Quicken to forget the old payee.

R 55.12 on win10

    Is this account set up for downloading? If so, you need to deactivate the download in order to change the account number. Then, you can re-establish download for the account.
