Gap in Transaction Download for Wells Fargo
When updating my personal checking account through Wells Fargo, dates 5/23/23 through 8/20/23 do not download. I have all transactions before and after. I have all transactions for the entire 2023 year in the other accounts.
- My bank allows me to go 18 months back, so that is not the problem.
- I have tried downloading the file directly from the bank website. I have also played around with different date ranges.
- I have tried validating and super validating the file.
- I have tried deactivating and reactivating online setup for all accounts.
- I have tried setting up a new account to download those particular missing transactions into (with the intention of bringing them over to the existing account). However, they do not download.
- I have downloaded the Excel file to ensure that there is data in the download. There is.
It's as if Quicken thinks those transactions in that date range are already downloaded and thus avoids downloading them in order to prevent duplicates. I have no idea what to do next.

I've figured out a way around the problem! I deactivated electronic banking for all accounts, created a new/temporary account, and downloaded the 2023 transactions into that new account. Then, in the new/temporary account, I was able to find and select the transactions that I was missing, and I moved them into the original checking account. Finally, I deleted the temporary account.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my original comment! Very much appreciated.

Each financial institution decides how far back they will download data for. Many financial institutions will only download transactions only for the last 60-30 days. Some others will download for the last 1-2 years. There is nothing we can do to alter the date range that WF will download during OSU. So, that could be a limiting factor for you.
Another limiting factor is that Quicken "remembers" transactions that have been downloaded previously. Then when doing another download, Quicken will filter those previously downloaded transactions out of the new download/import to prevent duplicate transactions from being entered into the register.
You mentioned that you have previously downloaded the transactions from the online WF account. Did you do that in the QFX format (which WF identifies as the "Quicken" and "Web Connect" format)? Pleases describe the process you followed and what the result was when you did this.

Thank you for your response.
I downloaded the transactions into Quicken by first going onto the Wells Fargo website and downloading a QFX file, as you said. I did this for dates 01/01/2023 through 12/31/2023 for each account. After the file downloaded I would click on the download to open it, and the quicken application on my computer would blink, indicating that the transactions were downloading into Quicken.
I have four accounts and had no problems with the 2023 downloads for three of those accounts. For the other account, however, (the personal checking account) there was a gap. Transactions were downloaded as far back as 01/01/2023 and all the way through 12/31/2023, except all transactions from 5/23/23 through 8/20/23 are missing.

That is certainly one option to get around the issue. Glad to hear you figured that out and were able to make it work for you. Thanks for posting it here so others may learn from it.
