Can we match payee with regex?
Hi, I'm having a problem with quickfill rules.
For example, I might have two payee names like this:
- Amazon.com*CM78734PH
- Amazon.com*YI343984EJ
The problem here is that making a quickfill rule for any one of these is useless, since next time I have a transaction on Amazon.com, it will come through with a new code every single time.
For some reason, this seems to be a trend. More and more things I pay for tend to have these weird codes that come along with the payee name.
Could you implement wildcard matching, or full regex matching with the "Payee name"? This would make quickfill way, way more useful. I'm having to manually categorize more and more things

You want to create a renaming rule that just looks for Amazon.com and renames the payee to Amazon.com.
Full regular expressions have been suggested in the past, but I doubt Quicken Inc will ever have them because they are far too complicated for the average person.

You can create a renaming rule that will change any payee containing "Amazon.com" to be exactly "Amazon.com". You can then create a Quickfill rule for "Amazon.com" payees. The renaming rule will be applied first & then the QuickFill rule.

Thanks, this is quite helpful, however the UI is still restrictive. For something like "MCDONALD'S FX9019", I can't make a rename rule for "MCDONALD'S", since the apostrophe is a special character. I can only match for "MCDONALD", which, somehow doesn't match "MCDONALD'S FX9019". Is there a workaround for this?

Edit: seems like using "Quicken Name" works well. Thanks everyone
