Is there a list of scheduled transactions that you can edit or delete from? (Q Mac)

Options

Version 7.7.1 (Build 707.53346.100) macOS 13.6.7

I would like to be able to look at a list of scheduled transactions and be able to edit or delete them. Currently if the transaction is already marked paid for the month, there is no way to access the schedule to change it permanently. It seems you have to remember to do it next month before you mark paid. Very frustrating as I always forget until it's too late.

Once a scheduled transaction is marked as Paid, it is no longer associated with the scheduled transaction. Think of the scheduled transaction as a template for creating recurring transactions; once an individual transaction has been marked Paid, it can be freely edited without affecting the scheduled transactions, because they are no longer associated.

But to change future transactions, you can edit the "template". If you're not seeing upcoming scheduled transactions (in gray, above the "today" green line in a register), you need to adjust the setting for this register by pulling down the little clock icon in the upper right, under the Search box, to select how far in advance you want to see scheduled transactions:

Note that this setting can be set differently for every register, so setting it to 60 days in your checking account won't change it to 60 days in your credit card account.

To edit a scheduled transaction, double click the next instance of the gray transaction in the register. This causes the blue mini-menu bar to pop up:

Click "Edit All Instances" and you'll be able to edit all the fields of the scheduled transaction, as well as edit the schedule if needed.

And to add to those answers…

If you are trying to see scheduled transactions for all accounts in one place, there are two ways:

    1. Click the All Transactions register at the top of the sidebar. This will display all future scheduled transactions in accordance with how each is set to be displayed in it's individual account register, or
    2. Click Bills & Income > Projected Balances. Here you can use the middle popup menu to show All Accounts or any subset of accounts. And you can use the left popup menu to select how far in the future to show scheduled transactions without regard to how that is set in the individual registers.

With either of these methods, you can use the Type popup to display either Income or Spending, and you can use the search box to filter the list.

You may or may not be able to do this depending on what exactly you want. You can click on the clock symbol in the upper right corner of a register to change how far into the future you can see scheduled transactions, but you can't make changes to individual scheduled transactions without marking them paid first. For example, if you have a monthly bill set up and you want to skip the August bill for some reason, you can't just delete the scheduled August transaction - it will give you the choice to either delete all the scheduled transactions for that bill, or delete all the scheduled transactions up through August and leaving the ones starting in September. The only way to delete August would be to mark all the scheduled transactions for that bill as paid through August & then you could delete the August transaction. It's the same thing with the amount - if you want to make one scheduled transaction a different amount from the others you have to mark it paid first.

If you want to make permanent changes to a bill's schedule you can click on Bills & Income at the top of the Quicken window to see a list of all bills and make changes to the schedule or amount from there.
