Quicken is having trouble connection to Wells Fargo Bank.

An additional message from Wells Fargo Bank:

The user has entered an invalid user id or password,

Okay, I will attempt it again, including Try Again, and see what happens.

Also cannot connect to WF. Sharing is authorized successfully, subsequent return from browser to quicken spins and times out.

I'm having the exact same problem and can't find the way to out think it to get around it. Having to download my WF account from their site and separately from the accounts in my Quicken Update list is a real pain. I can't even tell if it's a WF problem or Quicken. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Anyone having issues with connecting to Wells Fargo Bank should change the connection method to Direct Connect (DC). It works 100% of the time and there is no charge to use it. It is also more secure. When you contact Wells Fargo Security, they recommend using DC.

I am not going to put detailed instructions how to make the change. It has been posted numerous times. Just search for it. The only thing I will mention is that if you get an error message, read it carefully. It will contain instructions on how to confirm your identity with Wells Fargo before you can connect with DC. And, after you confirm your identity, you may need to do the "Try again" twice for it to work.

@ddunfie if you continue to have issues accessing your accounts, contact Wells Fargo Security. When their systems detect a possible breach, the first thing they do is shut down access to Quicken. If you do contact them, ask them account changing your connection to Direct Connect (DC).

I'm having the same problem. I don't recall ever being transitioned to the new (EWC+) connection method. I have no trouble with existing, connected accounts in Quicken updating from Wells Fargo, but I opened a new account at WF and I want to add it to Quicken, so I went through the steps and entered my login credentials but received an error box, shown in the screenshot attached. I've tried multiple times, double-checked the credentials, etc., but no success. Furthermore, I experimented by deactivating online access for one of my existing accounts and then tried setting it up again, and got the same error, so now I have two WF accounts which I can't connect. I have no trouble logging in on wellsfargo.com, though I use two-factor authentication for that. However, that's been the case for a long time, and this has not interfered before, so I suspect this is something different. Suggestions are welcome, please!

    Thanks,

    Scott

@BScoBee - the answer to your problem is in the screen shot you provided. Please read it again carefully. The message is giving you instructions you need to follow to verify your identity before you can get connected again with Direct Connect (DC).

I should have noted that I followed those instructions: the Wells Fargo website asked me to sign in, which I did, and then it took me directly to a page telling me that I was authorized and had 10 minutes to go back to Quicken and try again. I did so, but still got the exact same error.

@BScoBee please go back to my earlier post on June 2nd and reread it. When you get back to Quicken, you may need to do the "Try again" more than once for it to work.

Has anyone resolved this ongoing problem with Wells Fargo? I guess I will make a phone call but this is really a hassle after being with Quicken for 10 years and Wells Fargo for just as long with no problems before. If this isn't resolved quickly I will be searching for a more reliable software company. This isn't the only issue since the new owners took over. Massive downloaded transactions into wrong accounts, wrong categories assigned and on and on. My usage has become manual finding and fixing which is worse than using a pencil ledger.

Add new account, search Wells Fargo, select, Advanced, and EWC

See my topic on Wells changes this weekend:

I think this is all related. I'll watch this topic as well.

I think I just fixed it.

Validated and super validated. Got a bunch of duplicate charges, but might be fixed. Will watch, but VERY promising.

Though your issue is slightly different it is worth a try.

    UPDATE: Fixed for me.

The problem appears to have fixed itself in that it let me connect and it found the accounts. However, recent transactions are not appearing in the download. Not sure what's up with that! It's always something.
